Knit, rest,
wander. Repeat.
Three nights of knitting, rest, and nothing you have to do — hosted by Dr Kate Ruttley and Roam & Wonder in a beautiful house on the Suffolk coast.
Three nights of
nothing you have to do.
This is not a workshop. There are no skills to hit, no projects to finish, no pressure to produce anything. It’s three nights in a beautiful house in Suffolk with a group of knitters, a host, and a private chef who handle everything else.
Roam & Wonder brings the guided walks and the hosting. Casual Knit Club brings the community, the warmth, and the knitting. Together we’ve built something we genuinely wish existed — a retreat that takes rest seriously.
Everything you need.
Nothing you don’t.
3 nights accommodation
ARC Thorpeness — a beautifully appointed private house on the Suffolk coast. Comfortable, calm, and genuinely lovely.
All meals & drinks
A private chef cooks every meal using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Welcome dinner, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and wine throughout.

Mostly unscheduled
Long stretches of time with nothing required of you. Knit, rest, chat, wander. The days are yours to fill as you please.
Good company
A small group of people who get it. The kind of weekend you come home from feeling like yourself again.
Four days.
Mostly unscheduled.
Arrive & settle in
Check in from 3pm. Welcome drinks, a proper dinner, wine, and your first real evening of knitting time. No agenda, no rush — just arrive and breathe.
Walk, knit, breathe
Optional morning guided walk along the Suffolk coastline with Roam & Wonder. The rest of the day is entirely yours — knit, rest, wander the house, watch the sea.
Yoga, knitting
Optional gentle yoga to start the morning. A wide-open afternoon to knit, connect, and rest. No schedule, no pressure, no rush.
Farewell
A slow breakfast together and a gentle morning before the real world returns. Check out at 10am — leave feeling restored.
Dr Kate
Ruttley
Doctor · Knitter · Founder of Casual Knit Club
Kate practised medicine before founding Casual Knit Club. She built this retreat around something she understood clinically and knew personally: the case for rest is real, and most of us aren’t getting enough of it.
“I know what chronic exhaustion does to a body. I’ve seen it in patients, and I’ve felt it myself. I built this because in our busy lives, we don’t have time to look after ourselves. I wanted to create a space where people could do that through a hobby they love.” — Dr Kate Ruttley, founder, Casual Knit Club
Kate will be sitting there with her own project, same as you. Three days of knitting, chatting, and actually switching off together.
